Interested in participating in an Italian language study group based on the reading of modern Italian short stories?
If so, we're based in Adelaide, and are planning such a group.
We may meet face-to-face, or online, or both, depending on the needs of participants.
Proposal
To establish a study group in Adelaide for intermediate to advanced students of Italian (B1/B2 level and above) to read and discuss contemporary 20th and 21st century Italian literature.
Purpose
Improve students’ Italian vocabulary and grammar by engaging with authentic texts.
Improve students’ pronunciation and diction by encouraging reading aloud.
Broaden students’ knowledge of Italian history and culture. Extend language learning beyond stereotypical contexts and scenarios.
Develop second-language reading skills and strategies.
Simply enjoy engaging with literature with like-minded people.
Texts
An eclectic range of texts (short stories of 1500-3000 words), by both known and relatively unknown published authors.
Study notes (including vocab/grammar, author details, links, etc) provided to accompany each text.
Approximately 50/50 male and female authors.
Texts may also include translations into Italian, novel excerpts, reviews, biographies and essays where relevant.
